Femme Financial Freedom

Project Summary

Femme Financial Freedom

The Femme Financial Freedom (3F) project is a European initiative designed to promote the financial inclusion of young migrant and refugee women by enhancing their financial literacy and economic participation. In response to the growing feminisation of migration, the 3F project seeks to empower women who face multiple layers of disadvantage in their new host countries, particularly in navigating economic systems and securing financial independence.

Recognizing that young migrant and refugee women often flee conflict zones or economic hardship in search of safety and stability, the project responds to the complex challenges they face upon arrival in Europe. These include limited financial knowledge, language and cultural barriers, difficulties in accessing banking and social services, lack of tailored financial information, and social isolation.

Through an innovative educational approach, the 3F project aims to build critical financial skills and foster economic empowerment among these women, enabling them to make informed financial decisions and reduce their vulnerability to exclusion and poverty. The project will develop and deliver a youth-focused financial literacy programme, specifically tailored to the needs, realities, and cultural backgrounds of migrant and refugee women.

Project Results

3F Project – Key Results

The Femme Financial Freedom (3F) project aims to empower young migrant and refugee women through financial literacy and social inclusion. To achieve this, the project delivers six main results and three final dissemination events, each designed to contribute to the long-term impact of the initiative.

1. Report on Learning Outcomes in Financial Literacy

This report defines eleven tailored learning outcomes specifically designed for young migrant and refugee women. These outcomes address essential financial knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for economic empowerment and successful integration into European society. The report serves as the foundation for the training curriculum and provides clear educational targets.

2. Financial Literacy Training Programme

A comprehensive training programme in financial literacy, adapted to the needs of young migrant and refugee women, will be developed and delivered as an Open Educational Resource (OER). The programme will be available online and aims to equip participants with practical financial skills, promote equal opportunities, and support their active participation in all aspects of life in their new countries.

3. Online Platform

The training content will be hosted on an interactive online platform, featuring structured educational modules. The platform is designed to be accessible and user-friendly, supporting both youth workers and young women learners. It offers tools and guidance for those with limited financial knowledge and digital skills, ensuring a wide reach and long-term usability.

4. Mobility Activity in Bulgaria

A 7-day international mobility activity will be organized in Bulgaria with 20 participants—young migrant and refugee women. During this activity, participants will engage with all training modules and provide direct feedback on the content, structure, and effectiveness of the programme. This activity plays a key role in the validation and improvement of the training course.

5. Financial Literacy Inclusion Toolkit

This practical toolkit, available in English and partner languages, is designed for youth workers. It explores the link between financial literacy and the social inclusion of young migrant and refugee women. The toolkit provides actionable strategies, methods, and resources to support youth professionals in their work with this target group.

6. Policy Recommendations

A set of policy recommendations will be developed in English and translated into all partner languages. These recommendations aim to inform and influence policy makers by highlighting the importance of financial literacy in the inclusion process of young migrant and refugee women. The document will also advocate for increased support of youth work in this field.

7. Final Conferences in Each Partner Country

To ensure widespread visibility and long-term impact, the project will conclude with three national final conferences—one in each partner country. These events will take place during the final month of the project and will present the 3F approach, activities, and results to local stakeholders, practitioners, and policy makers. The conferences aim to strengthen the project’s legacy and inspire further initiatives.
