Media Literacy – The Key to Critical Thinking

We are proud to be part of the Erasmus+ project “Media Literacy – The Key to Critical Thinking”, a transnational initiative focused on strengthening the ability of adults to navigate today’s complex digital information landscape.

This project brings together organizations from Romania, Poland, and Latvia, working collaboratively to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: disinformation and the lack of critical thinking in online environments.

About the Project

In an era where social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok shape opinions and decisions, the ability to distinguish between real and misleading information is essential.

The project focuses on developing media literacy and critical thinking skills among young adults (25–40 years old), empowering them to:

  • recognize fake news and manipulation techniques
  • verify information effectively
  • escape information bubbles
  • make informed decisions in their daily lives

At the same time, the project supports adult educators, equipping them with tools and methods to guide others in developing these essential skills.

Objectives

The main goals of the project are:

  • To combat disinformation by improving media literacy competencies
  • To strengthen critical thinking skills among young adults
  • To support adult educators with practical tools and methodologies
  • To promote active citizenship and participation in democratic life

By achieving these objectives, the project contributes to building a more informed, responsible, and engaged society.

Activities

The project runs from February 2025 to August 2026 and includes several key activities:

International Trainings for Educators

Three training courses will be organized in:

  • Latvia
  • Romania (hosted by Asociatia Se Poate)
  • Poland

These trainings bring together adult educators to exchange knowledge, develop tools, and co-create project results.

Local Workshops

Each partner will organize workshops for young adults (25–40 years old) to:

  • improve their media literacy skills
  • learn how to identify fake news
  • develop critical thinking abilities

Project Results

By the end of the project, the partnership will produce several key outputs:

  • Mini-reports on tackling fake news in each country
  • A series of short educational videos (reels) addressing disinformation
  • A Good Practices Publication with practical tools and methods for media literacy

By investing in people’s ability to think critically, we contribute to a healthier digital environment and stronger communities.
